Successful Conclusion of the Enterprise Community and Empowerment Zone
The Compact was pleased to host its 15th Year
Anniversary Celebration of the Successful Wind-Up of the Enterprise Community
("EC") and Empowerment Zone ("EZ") designations.
The event, on March 10th at the King Arts
Center, attracted more than 230 stakeholders and partners, and allowed the
Compact to say "Thank You" to our many, many friends who worked so effectively
to make a difference in the EC/EZ.
In attendance were Mayor Michael B. Coleman;
City Council Members Charleta Tavares, Herschel Craig, and Priscilla Tyson; City
Attorney Rick Pfeiffer; State Representatives Tracy Maxwell Heard and Carlton
Weddington; HUD Ohio Office Director Jorgelle Lawson; HUD Ohio Office Assistant
Director Tom Leach; Mark Bell of Congressman Patrick Tiberi's Office; and
representatives of Franklin County Commissioner Paula Brooks.
The Compact Board of Directors and Staff thanks
all the partners and stakeholders in the Columbus EC/EZ initiative. The
"Keeping the Promise" Commemorative Poster of the 10-Year initiative is
available at Compact offices, and is ideal for framing and permanent display on
partner office walls as a recognition of this massive community mobilization and
effort to improve our central city.
